The latest rumors state that Google is going to launch Smartwatch is codenamed the Nexus Gem and could launch alongside the new Android 4.4 KitKat OS. The rumors of Google smartwatch have been circulating for many months, it was said that the original would be launched on 2014. According to Google+ page of Android Police founder, Artem Russakovskii, the rumor tips a launch date of October 31

A few days back, it was reported that Google was giving finishing touches to its rumored smartwatch, named Gem and that it will come with Google. “Google will announce a Nexus watch likely together with the KitKat announcement”, posted according by Russakovskii, “Nothing is 100 percent until it’s officially announced. None of this may end up being true, though we can still build up good level of confidence in the sources.”The Gem joins the likes of Apple’s long-fabled iWatch and Microsoft and LG’s rumored wrist-worn gadgets. Samsung just launched its Galaxy Gear smartwatch that is designed to work with its Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014), as the Galaxy Gear is only compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in the UK and offers limited functionality for the user at present.
Google had also mentioned that some notifications that usually appear on the phone would show up on the connected Google Gem smartwatch, including calendar alarms, email, and SMS among others. A Nexus smartwatch could be Google’s second wearable technology venture, following on from Google Glass.
